The UBC Orphan Care Ministry will be hosting an information session on the Welcoming Angels Hosting Program for Summer 2012.  The children are from Ethiopia and are between the ages of 8-14.  Please join us on January 8th at 11am at the Farmhouse to learn more about this program.  Please consider opening your home to a child who desperately needs the love of a family!

We are excited to announce that UBC will be sponsoring the Welcoming Angels Program for Summer 2012. We will be praying for host families to welcome Ethiopian children into their homes for 4-5 weeks, July-August 2012. The age range of the host children are 8-14 yrs old.  The deadline for applications is  February 1, 2012.   If you are interested, please contact Tracy Sutkaytis at morganrave@verizon.net or Jen Bittner at jbittner261@comcast.net.

Please be in prayer for the safe travels of the host children traveling from Latvia and Ukraine. The children arrive on Thurs and are in the US for approximately 4 weeks. They will be celebrating Christ’s birth with their host families and experiencing the love of a family.

We are prayerfully considering the applications for the Spring Caring trip. Once we receive elder approval, we will call everyone for status. Thank you for the overwhelming response.

Spring Caring Trip

We are so excited to announce the Spring Caring Trip to Ketty’s House for March 20-25, 2012. Part of this trip will be a VBS and a possible work trip. Costs for this trip will average $1300. If you are interested in filling out a preliminary application please send an email to ocmubc@gmail.com

Please keep the following items in your prayers this week and beyond:

The Bittner’s are traveling to Ethiopia in a few days. Please pray for everyone’s safe travels and that God will knock down any obstacles they may face during this amazing adoption journey.

This Sunday is Orphan Sunday at UBC. Please pray that God will use the testimonies to reach just the right people and further His Kingdom through orphan ministry!

The following is a daily prayer “calendar” for the kids at Ketty’s House in the D.R. We realize it’s difficult to pray for 33 children every day, yet we feel strongly that each child needs and deserves individual prayers. So we’ve created this daily calendar that allows you to pray specifically for each child, one or two a day. (Sorry this is a day late- December will be to you on time!!) Print a copy for your prayer journals!

Kettys Kids Needing Sponsorship

Child Sponsorship allows us the opportunity to support a child at Kettys house through prayer, letters, gifts, and a monthly commitment of $35. The unique thing about our relationship with Kettys House is that we as a church have exclusively “adopted” this orphanage. This allows us to build deep relationships with the children and staff. This also allows us to share Christ’s love with them through Caring Trips several times a year. When our team traveled to Kettys House in October we were able to see just how important the letters and pictures that sponsor families send are. The children were so proud to show us any letters, pictures, etc. that they had received from their sponsor. Each day we were asked many times “Are you my American? or Do you know my American?”
UBC has been wonderful in quickly sponsoring all the children at Kettys House last May. However, there are still several children that still need double sponsors and there are 3 new children in Kettys House. Please click on the link above to view the photo listing and learn more about the children that still need sponsors.
